What is the WSOP Academy Live?

The WSOP Academy Live (World Series of Poker Academy) offers a series of poker instructional events lead by top poker professionals in premier casino properties across the United States. The WSOP Academy arms participants with the skills required to accomplish their poker goals. Through seminars, live interactive demonstrations and poker tournaments/challenges, the WSOP Academy will elevate your poker game and give you the tools to dominate your poker table be it your home game or the World Series of Poker Main Event!

 

When was the WSOP Academy established?

The WSOP Academy (formerly Camp Hellmuth) was launched by Harrah’s Operating Company, Inc., a subsidiary of Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:HET) in January 2007. All WSOP Academy events are managed and produced by Flop Card LLC.

Our carefully selected instructors are some of the world's best poker players, behavioral experts and poker media personalities. The WSOP Academy works only with the best of the best. Our instructors have been hired for their professional expertise and skill as well as their abilities to lead, teach, discuss, motivate and make the WSOP Academy experience as much enjoyable as it is educational. What type of poker instructional events does the WSOP Academy offer?

The WSOP Academy offers four types of poker training academies. Tournament, Cash Game, Advanced and Special Academies. For more information about the types of poker events offered see the Academies page.

 

How many people attend each WSOP Academy Event?

The number of attendees depends on the host city, the time of year and the type of event. Because our philosophy is to create a positive and intimate learning experience the event size is usually limited from 30 to around 80 people for two day academies and from 75 to around 150 people for three day academies.
By limiting the number of seats available this allows us to provide you with a low instructor to attendee ratio (1 to 10), which means that you will receive a high level of one-on-one attention and personalized feedback making for the ultimate poker learning experience.

 

What level of knowledge and experience do I need to have to attend a WSOP Academy Event?

We offer beginner, intermediate, and advanced versions of all our academies. Our exclusive poker training events have been tailored to suit any poker player from the novice to the experienced poker player. We believe that in order to achieve poker greatness and make more money playing poker that you always have to be a student of the game.

 

What is the WSOP Academy Main Event?

For the first time in poker education history we will be launching a WSOP Academy Main Event! The WSOP Academy Main Event will be played by every 1st place winner from each WSOP Academy event as well as 1 lucky winner from the WSOP and 1 lucky winner from the WSOP gaming client. These lucky players will battle it out during an online tournament that will be played in real time and broadcasted internationally on WSOP.com. The winner of our exclusive Main Event Tournament will be named the official WSOP Academy Main Event Champion and will be awarded with their very own Main Event bracelet made by the same jewelers who designed the official Main Event bracelet for the World Series of Poker. That’s not all! We’ll also fly the winner out to Vegas and cover their hotel accommodation while they train with some of the world’s best poker players prior to representing the WSOP Academy name in one of the 2012 World Series of Poker Events! This lucky winner will also receive exclusive invites to parties, interviews with the press and more!

There are 2 ways to register:

How much does it cost to attend a WSOP Academy?

The cost varies by event. In general, attendees make an investment ranging from $1,699.00 to $2499.00. For specific pricing go to the Academies page and select the Academy of your choice.

 

Do I have to pay the full amount of the WSOP Academy event before attending?

Yes.

 

Does WSOP Academy offer a group discount for registering multiple attendees?

Yes, If you register 3 or more people for the same WSOP Academy event date, you will receive a discount of up to 10%. Please call 1 800-989-WSOP(9767) for details and to register.

You will also receive a 10% discount for purchasing 3 or more events.
These discounts may not be combined with other special offers.

 

TRANSFER & CANCELLATION POLICY

WSOP Academy live events are fully refundable, provided that the attendee cancels at least 30 days prior to the event which they are scheduled to attend. Attendees that cancel outside of 30 days may receive a full cash refund, or transfer their registration to a future WSOPA live event. If the attendee does not cancel outside of 30 days, they will not be eligible for a refund, but may still transfer to a future academy. The attendee must cancel prior to 72 hours before their scheduled event, or they will not be eligible for a transfer. If the attendee fails to attend their registered event or reschedule to attend a future event, their spot will be forfeit and the WSOP Academy will issue no refund. On the rare occasion that the WSOP Academy is forced to cancel a live event, every registered attendee will receive either a full refund or transfer option for a future event based on their preference. In the event that an event cannot be completed due to circumstances outside of our control, attendees will be offered credit for the portion of the event that was cancelled.

 

What if I register for a WSOP Academy event, but then can’t attend?

Attendees that cancel outside of 30 days may receive a full cash refund, or transfer their registration to a future WSOPA live event. If the attendee does not cancel outside of 30 days, they will not be eligible for a refund, but may still transfer to a future academy. What can I do if I’m unsatisfied with a WSOP Academy event that I attended?

At WSOP Academy, we guarantee the satisfaction of our attendees. In fact, 98% of our past attendees say they would recommend the WSOP Academy event they have attended to their friends. If you are not satisfied with a WSOP Academy event for which you have attended, WSOP Academy will give you credit toward another event of comparable price.

Can WSOP Academy help make my hotel reservations?

WSOP Academy does not arrange hotel accommodations. We recommend you make your reservations early.
